This museum in Taipei contains some of the very best pieces from the art collection of the former Chinese imperial family. The pieces in this museum were moved many times during the turbulent period between the Mukden incident in 1931 and the evacuation to Taiwan in late 1948.

To prevent them falling into the hands of the Imperial Japanese army the pieces were moved from Beijing to Shanghai in 1931, then Nanjing in 1936, then Anshun and Leshan and later back to Nanjing. In late 1948 many items were evacuated from Nanjing via Keeling Harbour on to Taipei. The collection in Taipei represents about 20% of the pieces that were moved around during the Sino-Japanese wars and the Chinese civil wars. However, the pieces in Taipei represent much of the very best of the Chinese emperor’s collections.

Ce musée de Taipei présente plusieurs des plus belles pièces de la collection de la famille impériale chinoise. Ces pièces ont été déménagées de multiples fois pendant la période turbulente de l’histoire chinoise entre l’incident de Mukden en 1931 et le transport vers Taïwan à la fin de 1948.
